Like the Curved Swords, but with a new (and strong) hat.
Curved Greatswords are like Curved Swords, but they are bigger. In a perfect world, they would move as quickly and elegantly as their shorter peers, but have the power of much bigger weapons.
In Elden Ring, that hasn’t always worked out, but a patch made the weapon class much better, giving some of the weaker choices a chance to be useful and making the powerful ones even stronger. You can use this list to figure out which of these tools are worth your time.
The Monk’s Flameblade is a bad tool. There’s really no other way to say it. Even though it looks cool, that’s about all it has going for it. Compared to the other Curved Greatswords, it is short, does low damage, and has no special powers to make up for these flaws.
It’s not even easy to find, since it only drops from one Fire Monk in the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave. It’s also not a sure drop, so you’ll have to keep running through the Grave until you get it. The Monk’s Flamblade isn’t worth the trouble unless you want to have them all or are making a list of Curved Greatswords.
Onyx Lord’s Greatsword
The only Curved Greatsword with Intelligence scaling is the Onyx Lord’s Greatsword. But that doesn’t mean it’s usually a good choice for mage builds. It does more damage with more Strength, but the Onyx Lord’s Repulsion Weapon Skill only scales with Intelligence, so you’ll have to decide how to spend your levels. When it comes to the Weapon Skill, it is a bit of a mixed bag.
If you use it, it will push enemies away from you, which is usually not what you want when fighting close-up. Still, it will completely knock down a lot of smaller enemies, which can stop them from moving. If you think that sounds interesting, you can get the tool by killing an Onyx Lord in the Lands Between. It’s the one you fight at the end of the Sealed Tunnel in the Altus Plateau.
The Dismounter doesn’t do as much damage as some of the other Curved Greatswords, but it is the second-longest one. More importantly, it’s by far the longest special Ashe of War that can be made.
Most people will choose something that does more damage, but if you want length, the Dismounter has a lot of it. The weapon is also easy to get. Kaiden Sellswords drops it when he dies. You can find them all over the Land’s Between, but they are most common in Limgrave, which is where the Elden Ring starts.
Zamor Curved Sword
The Zamor Curved Sword isn’t what you want if you want a curved greatsword for regular fighting. It is by a large measure the shortest Curved Greatsword, and its damage isn’t as good as other weapons in its class.
But its Zamor Ice Storm weapon skill is very strong. It creates a whirlwind of ice around you that does a lot of damage and causes Frostbite very fast. The tool pretty much only does one thing, but it’s a good thing. The Ancient Hero of Zamor drops this weapon at the end of the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave in the Mountaintops of the Giants. This is not a surprise.
If you’ll excuse the pun, the Beastman’s Cleaver is a beast of a tool. Ashes of War can be given to any Curved Greatsword, but this one does the most damage and is best for Strength-based builds. It is also the shortest and biggest weapon in its class, but many players won’t mind because of how much damage it does.
The fact that the weapon drops from the Azula Beastmen who use it could be a bigger problem. Usually, you can only find them in Crumbling Farum Azula, which is one of the game’s last places. But you can get the Beastman’s Cleaver much sooner if you go to the Four Belfries in Liurnia of the Lakes and use the Crumbling Lands Waygate there. This will take you to a different part of Crumbling Farum Azula where you’ll find two Beastmen. You can farm this weapon from one of them.
The Omen Cleaver is the one weapon on this list that really shows how Curved Greatswords work as a whole. It has the right mix of range, speed, and power for this type of weapon. It’s shorter than the Dismounter and doesn’t do as much damage as the Beastman’s Cleaver, but it’s close enough in both areas that it’s usually better than either of them.
To get the Omen Cleaver, you have to kill the hard Omen monsters, which look like ogres. They’re pretty common on the Altus Plateau, but if you want to get the weapon early, you can farm one outside the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle.
Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword
The Magma The Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword is the Faith-scaling member of the Curved Greatsword class. It does damage based on both Strength and Faith, so if you invest in both stats, it can be very powerful. But the best thing about it is its Weapon Skill, which is called Magma Guillotine. You jump into the air and then slam the weapon down with a magma blast. After that, you can do a second chop.
The leap attack is very hard to stop, and between the two strikes, most bosses will take a lot of damage. This makes it one of the best unique weapon skills in the Lands Between. Also, you can get the Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword early in the game if you’re ready to rush through the starting areas to Magma Wyrm Makar, who guards the secret entrance to the Altus Plateau in the Ruin-Stricken Precipice.
Morgott’s Cursed Sword
Morgott’s Cursed Sword isn’t just a Weapon Skill on a stick like some of the other weapons on this list. It’s the longest and lightest of the Curved Greatswords, and when you hit someone with it, it makes them bleed more. Even though the weapon’s base damage isn’t that great, these traits would make it worth using.
But Morgott’s Cursed Sword has a great Weapon Skill called “Cursed-Blood Slice,” which makes you rush forward and cut through the air, leaving explosions of fire and blood in your wake. It’s one of the most impressive-looking Weapon Skills in Spacebar Clicker game, and it’s also quite strong. You can get Morgott’s Cursed Sword by beating Morgott, the Omen King, and trade his Remembrance with Enia at the Roundtable Hold. This will let you crush your enemies and make you feel like the hero of an anime.
The Bloodhound’s Fang is known as one of the best early-game weapons in Elden Ring, and this is for a good reason. It can be gotten by killing Bloodhound Knight Darriwill in the Forlorn Hound’s Evergaol, which is near where the game starts. Even for a low-level Tarnished, he’s not too hard, and as a prize, you get a Curved Greatsword that you can use for the rest of the game. It does a lot of damage, has a long range, and has damage from bleeding built in. Unlike most Somber Stone weapons, it can also be improved.
On top of that, the Bloodhound’s Fang has a great Weapon Skill called Bloodhound’s Finesse that makes you lunge forward and slash upwards in a summersault. This can be followed by a Heavy Attack that makes you leap forward again. Both moves temporarily make you invincible, have a wide range, and do a lot of damage. This is pretty much the perfect weapon, and it’s the best Curved Greatsword by a long shot.
